Yes, its true we did have Elk in our round pen. We had been feeding one of our horses in the roundpen and we had a really cold spell with lots of snow and when I looked out in the morning there were elk in our round pen.

Elk in the Round Pen

This was pretty interesting...but they didn't stay long.

There they go....

Over the next few days we noticed they would hang out across the road waiting on us to feed our horses, then they would come over and run the horses away from their hay. We were feeding our horses more because of the snow yet the elk was eating it.

When I lived in Florida and was fighting the traffic back and forth to work I dreamed of a quieter lifestyle such as this. When they were eating all of our horses expensive hay I was dreaming of elk meat in the freezer….oh well dreaming is fun. But an interesting fact is that you could be living your dream on 35 acres in the Colorado Mountains too.
